This was drawn when we were first married and lived in Santa Barbara. I was a student at UCSB and Ann was young mother of our first child Laurel Ann. Ann's parents (as well as my own) were totally supportive and as we began to make our own new lives together, Ann brought with her her favorite blanket. This was a knitted (I think) blanket made by her mother.
This drawing later became a design for an acrylic painting that I gave to my sister, Kathy. I've asked her for a picture if it and will add it to my painting albums when I get it.

Ann has always loved to sleep on the couch in between TV and company. I always was relieved to know that in sleep she found peace and contentment. I felt these were the times she could not question the depth of my love for her.

I'm sure this was done in Redlands when I was a student at the U of R and she was pregnant with David. Whereas Laurie was a Celestial Blessing, David was a Blessing by Design. (Later, Peter was a Pure Love Blessing.) We have been "blessed" by the opportunity to parent these wonderful beings and marvel at the beauty they are contributing to our (and your) worlds.

Primitive artists drew long lines from the male genital area to the female genital area to represent the male-female connection. Somehow I was trying to keep our connection alive, appreciated and viable.

As the children got older, so did we. This was later, 80's ish, I think. She was still wearing her original wedding ring. Later she had her mother's diamonds added to her wedding band and then she was afraid to wear it in case someone else might covet the "glitzy" part of her heritage.

The kids had move on into their own continually evolving lives and Ann and I continued as well. This must have been the mid-nineties because Priscilla and Lieza were still in the picture. They all enjoyed an afternoon nap.
