Owl Medicine Assemblage Owl Medicine Date: 10/29/2008 It didn't have to be purple but it seemed to match the mood of the show for which it was being prepared. There are other versions of this picture and the assemblage is still not finished and needs to be assembled each time it is shown. There was a mixture of owl medicine, Native legend and contemporary conservationist attention to the demise of the spotted owl. Its a ceramic vase in the shape of the owl with a "toothed" vaginal opening into a landscape that includes a coniferous tree. There are other additions and offerings of intent that belong to this assemblage. The photo is all there is as a complete image now.
Another Crystal Fish Date: 10/29/2008 One of many Photoshop manipulations done to the original photo of a small crystal fish that I take with me in my camper. It was part of my reaction to an experience I had with my grandsons while camping in the mountains the summer of '08, Camp Fish in the Sky. The original picture was taken of the crystal fish in the bottom of a large green bowl filled with water and the clouds were being reflected in the water and looked like the fish was in the sky.
Yellow Line Date: 10/29/2008 This was probably the first time I really got into fiddling around with the Photoshop possibilities. I took this picture on one of my morning walks around West Sunset Dr. in Redlands. I have many variations on this picture. It looked so celestial to me. I also like the fact that its horizontal.
Radial Prism Date: 10/29/2008 This is just one of the variations I tried with a picture of a spectrum shining in the corner of the family room ceiling. There is a prism hanging in the window of the family room and the sun hits it on winter mornings. There is molding and the ceiling is of bead-board if that helps you see it.
wave-pattern-2 Date: 10/29/2008 The original photo is the one of the crystal fish in the bowl with the clouds reflecting in water but for the life of me I can't remember the sequence of filters I used to get this effect. Just thought it was a bit on the "Op Art" side of the visual experience.
wierd.card Date: 10/29/2008 I was working on a series of Artist Trading Cards and was playing with some digital images. The original image is one I may post eventually; it was of a cracked asphalt street next to the curb as it was partially wet and drying. Then I got into stretching and folding the picture and then selecting and introducing other color and gradient patterns. Looked kinda surrealistic and may become material for future visual applications. Who knows?
unbelivable.card Date: 10/29/2008 Sorry everybody, . . . don't have a clue how this happened but just thought it was an interesting minimal statement.
_ooh-yeah-fish Date: 10/29/2008 The original fish picture is the one of Oro that appears later in this album. I will continue to develop this theme of the goldfish in the water. I learned much more about working with layers with this picture. Lots more to learn.
the-idea Date: 10/29/2008 Another on-going project that became the opening image for my personal website. The eagle shape came from the image that was selected by my sister and I when we were researching an eagle design that was used on our Father's tombstone. The field is a painting I call "Gyre" and was painted years ago during an Arts Project institute and will eventually be completed with a design similar to the inserted googled view of Lake Powell where our family first came in contact with the power of Eagle Medicine. Both designs are on file and may appear in many different ways in the future.
