Credence, 1972-3, oil over acrylic, (48"x36")
[Kimball collection]
This painting was done in exchange for a poem written by Doug. I took a photo of their dog Credence and painted this picture. However, before the picture was dry, Credence died.
Accidentally, Doug and I had been in deep discussions over Herman Hesse's Demian, and the concept of Abraxis, I had also painted a mask of Abraxis titled, "You Know His Name." Claudia and Doug saw the Abraxis painting and accepted that as the one I had painted for the trade. So, I let them take the "mask".
(Now there's a long story as to what happened to that painting, but you'll have to ask Doug.)
I still like this one.
